Quotable!

This weekend I was FINALLY able to get my hands on the new fall/winter issue of Flea Market Style. And as always, it's chocked full of FABULOUS projects, ideas, homes, pictures, and articles. During the making of this issue back in the spring, the FMS staff asked readers to submit their favorite antiques malls. So, after describing The Corner Nest (my favorite mall) and all its greatness I clicked submit with crossed-fingers and hope for the best.
Fast-forward five months.... I'm sitting in my boyfriend's living room perusing the pages of my new buy. I'm savoring each and every image and word...slowly...turning...the...pages. I finally come to a page titled, "Flea Market Style's Antiques Malls Reader Submitted." I'm holding my breath as I scan the page for the state in which it is located. Nothing. Nada. Zip. "Oh well!" I think to myself and keep reading.
Fast-forward twenty minutes.... I come to page 130, the second portion of the list of favorite antiques malls. My heart starts racing. I scan. I look. I read. And there it is...Corner Nest Antiques Mall and its location, phone number, and facebook page. I was ECSTATIC, THRILLED, FREAKING-OUT! Then I think to myself, "I wish a small snippet describing the mall would have been put in." (Some had this description below them). Then, at the exact time I had that thought I glance to the top of the right corner and see MY NAME below MY QUOTE! The FMS staff picked MY favorite mall and chose to add what I had to say about it! I jumped up and yelled "OMG! This has made my life! It's now complete!"
I have been quoted  in my absolute. Favorite. Magazine. Of. All. Time.
Talk about a great "interesting fact about yourself" to share at the next get-to-know-you-function :)

PLUM Cute!!!

A few weeks back my mom realized our small plum tree had produced quite a bountiful harvest considering its size. She just planted it last summer, so we didn't expect to have fruit this year. Boy were those flimsy little branches saggin'! We all enjoyed the plums, but not as much as our two cocker spaniels, Toby & Roxy, who thought they had died and gone to heaven! Fortunately for our neighbors we were leaving for vacation soon after mom's pleasant discovery. So we thought we do the neighborly thing and share part of summer's bounty. With the grab of a thrift store basket, an old stained (but clean!) doily, and the toss of a few plums we concocted a simply delicious treat for the folks around our home. Maybe next summer we'll make a cobbler to share!! Know any other yummy ideas for plums?

She Sells Seashells By the Seashore!

So, my family and I just got back from a week of vacation at the beach. One of my most favorite things to do while there is comb the sand for unique shells and beach glass. I always want to bring friends and family members something back home, but I hate cheesy souvenirs. (Who really likes personalized plastic key chains and coffee mugs anyway??) So this time I decided to collect and "can" a bit of the beach for my loved ones. A scoop of sand, a handful of neat-o shells and rocks, a cute glass jar ($1 at the Dollar Tree!), and a cute tag make this simple yet unique (and affordable) souvenir. Who wouldn't wanna gander at this bit o' the beach and day dream???
